He's picky about what he builds. Every piece of wood is hand-selected from local suppliers who harvest sustainably. No particle board. No shortcuts. Just honest craftsmanship that your kids will fight over someday.

Natural wood is his preference (why hide the grain?), but if you want paint, he'll do that too. It's still going to be built right.

That means solid hardwood from local, sustainable sources and the kind of attention that only comes from one person seeing a project through from first sketch to final install.
Mat doesn't work from a catalog. Every project starts with your space, your needs, your taste. Whether you know exactly what you want or just have a rough idea, he'll work with you to design something that fits your life and your home.
He uses 3D renderings to dial in the design before he cuts a single board, so what you imagine is what you get.

Mat's Story
Mat built his first grandfather clock at 14. That was the start.
He's been running his own woodworking shop in Humboldt County since 2004, creating furniture and cabinetry designed to last for generations. His work is inspired by the Redwood Coast and by craftsmen like George Nakashima and James Krenov, who treated wood as a living material and let its grain, texture, and imperfections guide the design.
Mat works the same way. Traditional joinery, modern aesthetic. Functional, beautiful, built to become an heirloom.
